- Wasilla routes are built by neighborhood before the first storm. When a route has all the driveways it can finish before morning, it closes.
- Fairview Loop, Seward Meridian and the Seldon Road subdivisions fill first. In town, Lucille Lake and Bogard fill through October. KGB and Schrock have room longer.
- The first real storm is when everybody calls, and it is usually in October.
- If you are reading this after the first storm, send the form anyway. Some Wasilla routes have room and the Buddy System opens more.
Wasilla has a lot of neighborhoods on our route map, which means a lot of open streets in September and a lot of closed ones by November. Here is which areas fill first and how to get on before they do.
Which Wasilla areas fill first
How the season fills in Wasilla
- SeptemberReturning customers and early signups build the routes. The most neighborhoods are open now.
- Early OctoberStaking starts and billing starts October 1. The commuter routes begin to close.

- November onwardWaitlist, in order. You get a call when somebody on your route cancels or moves.
The 6 AM problem
Most of Wasilla commutes, to Anchorage or across the Valley, and a driveway that is clear at 9 is worth nothing. It has to be clear at 6. That is why our routes run overnight, why the trigger is automatic, and why the commuter neighborhoods fill first. The people who need it most sign up first.
Sign up with a neighbor and you both save 10 percent on top of it.
