Every year the same thing happens. It snows six inches overnight in late October, and by 9 AM the phone is ringing with people who need a plow guy today. I understand it, because nobody thinks about snow in September. But by then the routes are already built, and here is why that matters to you.

How a plow route actually works

We do not plow driveways in the order people call. We plow them in loops.

1. We group every signed customer by neighborhoodBefore the season, every contract gets sorted by street so a truck is never driving fifteen minutes between driveways.
2. Each truck gets a loop it can finish before morningThat loop has a limit. Once a truck has all the driveways it can clear in a night, the route is full.
3. The neighborhood closesIt does not matter how much you are willing to pay at that point. A missed driveway hurts us more than a lost sale, so we will not sell a spot we cannot service.
4. The waitlistIf your neighborhood is closed you go on the list and get a call when somebody moves or cancels.

Most of our plowing happens while you are asleep. That only works if the route is tight.

What happens if you call in November

If your neighborhood still has room, you are fine and we get you on. If it is closed, you wait. The people who call after the first storm also get staked last, and by then the ground is starting to freeze. Driveway markers go in a lot easier in October than in December.
